ALS, 1893 February 5 : Klin, nearby Moscow, to [Mr. A.F. Gemisson].

The great composer replies with seven points about his creative process and style of work, saying he composes on his daily walk, does not require a piano, and works from 9 to 1 and 5 to 8:30. He considers his best work his opera, "Queen of Spades." He states the creative faculty is a gift of nature that cannot be gained by work and study.
